Operating Instructions

• General

The OVC-BT series provides for simple voice communication used in fiberoptic systems. The series allows for the use of wireless headsets (Bluetooth) or standard headsets. Units are laser based using Wavelength Division Multiplexing at 1310 and 1550nm.

• Operation
1. The headset system is composed of headset and a universal Bluetooth adaptor. The units are grouped as set A and set B and are paired (linked) as a set.
2. Make sure all Bluetooth units are off. If not, press and hold the power buttons until the LEDs flash blue (approx 5 sec.).
3. Attach the A210 adaptor to the OVC HDST input on the front panel, and press the power button to turn it on.
4. Press the large button on the headset (LED blinks every 3 sec.).
5. Turn on the OVC. The headset LED will blink once per second indicating units are active.
6. On the headset, open the earhook (45° from the headset) and loop the earhook over the right ear. Press the headset to your ear. Point the boom towards your mouth and speak. To fit the left ear, gently flip and rotate the earhook 180. The range of the headset is approximately 30 ft. In general, you will get better performance and reception when there are no obstructions between your headset and the OVC. If you hear an echo, turn down the volume on the headset.
7. To turn off the units, press and hold the power buttons until the LEDs flash blue (approx 5 sec.).
• Maintenance
1. The red LED on the switch panel will blink to indicate low battery.
2. When not in use, always replace the dust cap on the optic port.
3. There are no user serviceable parts or adjustments in the OVC-BT series talk sets.

• Precautions

Our Optical Voice Communicators utilize an edge emitting LED. Extreme care should be used when working with any optical equipment or devices. Though remote, permanent damage to your eyes could occur. Avoid looking directly at the ends of optical fibers, connectors, or sources.

• Warranty

All Ixian Fiberoptics, Inc. products are warranted against defective material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of shipment to the original customer. Within the warranty period, any products that are found to be defective will, at the option of Ixian Fiberoptics, Inc., be repaired or replaced. The warranty does not apply to products that have been repaired or altered by any other than Ixian Fiberoptics, Inc. or have been subject to misuse, abuse, or accident.
